It’s time again for Mid City Nutrition Program’s biggest annual fundraiser: Empty Bowls!

Mid City Nutrition Program is a soup kitchen serving prepared meals twice each weekday and once each weekend day to anyone who needs one. During our last fiscal year, a federal boost to SNAP benefits ended and we immediately saw an increase in the number of meals we serve each day. That number has not returned to normal, and we have already served nearly 75,000 meals this fiscal year with 4 months to go.

We’d like to see this be our biggest Empty Bowls event yet! Empty Bowls is an international hunger awareness campaign wherein individual organizations host their own events serving a poverty meal of soup and bread. Artisans throughout the community make beautiful handcrafted bowls and each attendee gets to select one to keep. It’s a great evening of generosity and community.

Helping Mid City helps a lot of people. We serve the homeless, mentally ill, physically disabled, working poor, and families struggling in this time of rising food prices. We are funded almost entirely by grants and donations, in fact only about 1.5% of our operating budget comes from the federal government and we receive no state funds.

We are truly a community effort.

Please help us in our continued fight against hunger in our community.

Mid City Nutrition Program is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
